One of my favorite things to do in preparation for Christmas was to make sorghum candy with my grandmother. My brother and I would sit at her kitchen table while Grandma prepared the molasses brew. When the taffy had cooled enough to be handled, we would pull, twist, and shape the warm taffy, then wait impatiently to sample our treats. <div> Some of the greatest gifts in life are the special memories we cherish. </div><div> In honor of my grandmother, we have created a different type of sorghum "candy". Our Sorghum Candy Canes are for decorative purposes only and are now available on the website. <br />My new pattern, Faux Tobacco Twist, will be available 8-27-2011!
<br />These look very realistic and you won't require a tobacco license to sell them. While they may not be for everyone, they are sure to be a neccessity for those who decorate in early cabin primitive!
<br />
<br />Created in memory & honor of my dad, my hero; J. Hurn - a great man who liked to do the twist.
<br />
<br />I hope you will enjoy.
<br />
<br />You will find this and other patterns on my PictureTrail: <a href="http://www.picturetrail.com/walnutridgeprimitives">http://www.picturetrail.com/walnutridgeprimitives</a> and in my Etsy Shop: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/wrprimitives">http://www.etsy.com/shop/wrprimitives</a>

Hmm...Here are a few of the highlights...<br /> I rode in an elevator with a dog named, "Otis" up to an incredible treehouse...I met a four-hour old miniature horse...attended a Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup game...replied, "Absolutely" to a marriage proposal...ate far too many chocolates...spent a great deal of time on Facebook...created a PictureTrail album...released a few new patterns...and launched the new line of Pen and Ink Primitives. I have some pictures to share. We happened upon an absolutely wonderful shop in the town of Gotham, WI named Yore. As I stepped inside, my senses became engulfed...the aroma, the antiques, primitives displayed in nicely-done vignettes, the music...ahhh! We were greeted by the store owner, Theresa. As we perused the store, I became increasingly impressed by the decor, but I must say what impressed me the most was the owner. Although she was busy, she took the time to chat with us. We talked about the history of her store, her love of antiques, primitives, and folk art...It was like visiting with an old friend.<br /><br />These pictures really do not do the shop justice. I highly recommend a road trip to Yore so you can experience it yourself. In the meantime, you can visit their website: <a href="http://www.yorecountryhome.com/">http://www.yo</a><a href="http://www.yorecountryhome.com/">recountryhome.com/</a> Enjoy, Chris</div><div> </div><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S2cjd-1wj-I/AAAAAAAAADc/yo3ZXJ83sdg/s1600-h/YoreB.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433350473437450210" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S2cjd-1wj-I/AAAAAAAAADc/yo3ZXJ83sdg/s320/YoreB.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S2cjdb-6NYI/AAAAAAAAADU/X1OdmmMYix8/s1600-h/YoreA.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433350464080590210" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S2cjdb-6NYI/AAAAAAAAADU/X1OdmmMYix8/s320/YoreA.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S2cjeOM71zI/AAAAAAAAADk/LIjNbShNGdo/s1600-h/Yore4.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433350477561190194" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S2cjeOM71zI/AAAAAAAAADk/LIjNbShNGdo/s320/Yore4.jpg" /></a></div><div> </div></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2646035912261232909.post-19064251017870730272010-01-25T18:22:00.000-08:002010-01-26T19:02:10.395-08:00Welcome to Walnut Ridge Primitives<div align="center"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S15Shsm2x4I/AAAAAAAAAB4/lgTuSzFOTD8/s1600-h/scan0003.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 227px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430868939518691202" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_X7hS9F4DPrg/S15Shsm2x4I/AAAAAAAAAB4/lgTuSzFOTD8/s320/scan0003.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:130%;color:#c0c0c0;">Pardon my dust...as I am new to blogging. </span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-size:130%;color:#c0c0c0;"></span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-size:130%;color:#c0c0c0;">Welcome to Walnut Ridge.
